As a special treat I’ve got a few group pictures for you this week, as I’m going to be taking a break from posting over the school summer holidays. Interestingly enough, there aren’t many vintage photos out there with more than three participants featured. I wonder if models were harder to come by en masse back then? Or if it was just too difficult to pose them for longer exposures? I’ve certainly seen plenty of illustrated orgies from the late nineteenth/early twentieth century, but woefully few actual photographs.
Then again, perhaps I just need to look harder!
This first picture intrigues me, not only because it’s so hard to pin a period on it, but because of the man who seems to have been left out of the daisy chain. Is he in fact penetrating the guy he’s lying behind? Shame you can’t see any of their faces.
The hairstyles in this next one say late 70s/early 80s to me, and definitely more of a professional shoot. It still has a retro charm, however, with the barn like setting and the presence of actual body hair!
Now, I know some of you will have seen this last one before as I remember posting it ages ago, but it’s one of my favourites so you’re having it again! This is a very early example of a montage print, where negatives of the same threesome in different poses have been very carefully printed onto the same piece of paper to give the impression of an orgy. These three certainly seem to be enjoying each other – in whatever combination they find themselves in!

That last photo – the montage – I’ll swear that’s Ambrose and Lawrence! Look at the hair styles and the stocking and garters. Betcha a dollar!
Oh, I wish it was! However, after examining their faces closely, I’ve come to the conclusion that it isn’t. I have a feeling those kinds of hairstyles and stockings were fairly common back then.

My first thought when I looked at picture number three was that that HAD to be one of the boys ( Ambrose and/or Lawrence.) Not sure if it is both of the though…..I think the young boy without stockings is the most likely candidate.
Have a good summer! If the rain keeps pouring down as it is now ( I bet you have the same weather as us poor Norwegians) you’re going to envy me my four weeks in California. I’ve never seen so much sun in my entire life!

Had no idea that last one was a montage – that one is probably my fav b/c they look the most like they’re enjoying it, altho I really like the first one as well, and I’m inclined to feel as you do that the first guy is penetrating the guy he’s spooning.
