Jeff White’s needs are simple. All he wants is a submissive to help him explore the dominant side that his ex-girlfriend couldn’t handle. Problem is, inexperience in both dating and domming has resulted in a string of rejections.
What he needs is an experienced sub willing to show him the ins and outs of controlling a scene. Unfortunately, the only one willing to take him on is male, and Jeff is straight. One hundred percent, never-gonna-happen straight.
Easygoing painslut Eddie Powell doesn’t care that Jeff is younger, working class, and shorter. Eddie likes a bit of rough, and Jeff fits the bill perfectly. The trick will be convincing him to follow Eddie’s five-step training programme—which would be easy if Eddie wasn’t starting to have feelings for the rough-around-the-edges landscaper.
Once Jeff lays his hands on Eddie, things definitely get out of hand. But it’ll take more than hot, sweaty, kinky sex to persuade him to come out of the closet—especially to himself.
Warning: Contains a happy sub, a confused Dom, a high ratio of sex to plot, misuse of root ginger, and a suitcase of kink. Written in Jo’s usual exceedingly “English” English.
What they’re saying:
Easy might be an exaggeration, but it was certainly worth the effort…A fabulous trip into the minds of a sadist and a masochist who were fortunate enough to find each other.

This is seriously an outstanding book. I found myself laughing throughout and even got a bit misty-eyed in a few places. Jeff is as stubborn as they come, but sweet Eddie (who can literally take anything… he’s not a self-described painslut for nothing) always manages to put him in his place. There is an epic coming out scene that would make anyone proud. If you like more than a little kink with a bit of love thrown in on the side, you can’t go wrong with this book. The sex scenes are beyond sexy as hell but the sweet moments will have you saying “Aww…” more than a few times. I highly, highly recommend this book. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would.

Josephine Myles once again proves she deserves every moment of laud and praise for the delightfully smart writer she is and for stories that leave you always wanting just a chapter or two more… I cannot praise this novel enough. Not only delightfully witty but tender and realistic, How to Train Your Dom in 5 Easy Steps is just a marvelous story well worth its five star rating. I highly recommend it to you!
5 stars from Sammy at The Novel Approach
So, this book has two unique and likable (in their own evolving way) MC’s. It also has some of the most delicious filth I’ve read. Damn, the lessons are steaming hot and they got hotter as the story progressed. You know why? Feeeeeeeeeeelings. Feelings always make the sex better… Told with wit and style, this is a highly recommended sweet and dirty read.

Josephine Myles has written a very good, very funny, sweet and naughty novel with ‘How to Train Your Dom in Five Easy Steps.’ I have never read about a more adorable sadist and if that seems like an oxymoron read this book and then tell me I’m wrong! … I absolutely loved this book and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys BDSM and life with a healthy dose of humour and comforting reality.
5 stars from Beverley at Prism Book Alliance
How to Train your Dom in Five Easy Steps is a charming, charismatic, entertaining and sexy story with a down-to-earth view of BDSM. It’s supported by strong main characters that add their own unique voices to the story. There is also an engaging support cast that give the story a round feeling that keeps you turning the pages.

If you’re looking for some dirty with a side of kinky, topped with floggers, canes, cock rings, and nipple clamps, you are in for a treat. The heat level in this book is off-the-fucking-charts FLAMMABLE… There was no melodrama and little angst here, but there were plenty of emotions, sexy action, and hilarious dialogue. Myles is such a strong writer that seemingly mundane details become interesting, and the MCs feel like they could walk right off the page. To focus just on the delicious filthy sex is to miss the point of this engaging, funny, and ultimately sweet story. Yes, it’s BDSM, with pain play and humiliation, but the romance and tenderness more than shine through.
4.5 stars from Dani at My Fiction Nook
Jo enthralled me with a completely different take on the BDSM scene, I read and learned as Jeff did and Jo doesn’t hold back on the scenes or the toys involved, but it never felt squishy to me and she delves into some pretty hard-core stuff… The emotion was intense and the sex was not only moving but powerful and erotic… This is a fabulous read and highly recommended and I think even if you are someone not into reading BDSM, this book is a journey of enlightenment, not only for our two men, but also readers. Add that to Jo’s brilliant sense of humour so cleverly conveyed in her writing and the excellent story telling, characters you will fall in love with, and this book will certainly be one you won’t forget in a hurry.

Listen, I rather enjoy a good, hard spanking (erm, in my books), but to this point, I don’t think I’d had the pleasure of reading a “light” book with BDSM themes. MCs Eddie and Jeff were positively delightful… The back-and-forth between Eddie and Jeff was divine, with Eddie instructing Jeff how to properly embrace his inner sadist Dom and subtly stealing Jeff’s heart all along… This was my first time to read Josephine Myles, and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future. Whether you’ve read her before or not, you should totally run out and grab a copy of How to Train Your Dom in 5 Easy Steps. It’s great!

Josephine Myles is the bomb! Whenever I want a taste of some serious Brit, she delivers… Jo has outdone herself on the combination of kink and sweetness. I loved this story!! … Highly recommended read. As always, if you want to learn something new, and have fun doing it, with lots of fun smexin thrown in, pick up one of Jo’s books. Quite lovely!

I wasn’t sure about this book when it was offered for review. I’ve read a few of Ms. Myles’s other books—I also met her at RT this year and she is British and delightful—so I had a sense for what I was in for and trusted her to take me on a good ride, even if BDSM is not really my thing. What I did not expect, though, was for this book to make me cry. I mean that in the best way; there’s a scene toward the end when the characters confess how they feel for each other, and I was sitting on my bed sobbing like a baby because it just got to me and I wanted so bad for things to work out for these characters.

Lots of hot sex. These two were funny together because they didn’t censor anything that came out of their mouths. It was a charming read and I truly enjoyed it… Highly recommended for those who enjoy a few laughs with their S&M kinks.
